Stone of Narrative, endings, Wheel of Fate, and cycle decisions.

Story Mechanics

Fatal Claw tells a story through systems as much as cutscenes. The Stone of Narrative tracks objectives, the Wheel of Fate returns you to the beginning after credits, and every choice about who to cure or fight shapes which narrative segments play out. This page collects the confirmed story mechanics. Spoilers are kept minimal; use the Endings and New Game Plus pages for full context.

Stone of Narrative

The Stone of Narrative is the objective tracker. It shows what the game remembers and what it still wants from you. Some objectives are mutually exclusive: finishing one can close another. This is the core of Fatal Claw’s ending complexity — you cannot do everything in one pass.

The Stone tracks:

  • Region arrivals — reaching areas such as Aphotic Marsh, Higasha Tundra, Black Canyon
  • Boss defeats — Sorron, Cain, Enma, and other named encounters
  • Item deliveries — Aisare’s Stone Shards to Iedart, Archive information to Max
  • Rescue flags — survivor choices that may be mutually exclusive
  • Cure objectives — using gym sap or jibanam sap on specific NPCs

Read the Stone when you are unsure what to do next. It is the live checklist, not a wiki approximation.

Ending segments

Fatal Claw does not label outcomes as Bad, Good, and True. Credits roll first. An epilogue continues after. The longest happy set of narrative segments is a completion style — it is not an official trophy name.

Key ending-sensitive achievements:

  • Lost Hope — Reach the ending where Kisha loses all hope
  • Clockhand Stone — Reach the time guided by the Clockhand Stone
  • Ortrinde Guardian — Use Ortrinde to protect the fallen Kisha from the infected
  • Cain’s Duel — With Cain’s help, open the path to Sorron’s Archive

These are achievable after the ending credits, using the Wheel of Fate to return.

Wheel of Fate

The Wheel of Fate is how Fatal Claw handles New Game Plus. After credits, use it to return to the beginning while keeping certain progress. The documented cycle number moves from 34 to 35 on rewind.

Post-credits achievements tied to the Wheel:

  • Wheel of Fate — Return to the beginning using the Wheel of Fate
  • Ortrinde Guardian — Use Ortrinde to protect the fallen Kisha from the infected (requires Ortrinde alive)
  • Cain’s Duel — With Cain’s help, open the path to Sorron’s Archive (requires Cain alive)

The Wheel is not a full reset. See New Game Plus for what carries over and what resets.

Cycle decisions

Extra cycles let you retry mutually exclusive choices. Key decision points:

Cure Three: Cure Ain, Nia, and Carbo in a single playthrough — This requires getting all three cure items and making the right choices on one save. Extra cycles give you more attempts.

Purify Four: Purify Mirkam, Irbes, Sommar, and Saemo in a single playthrough — Purification uses the Silver Claw power on infected heroes. This is distinct from defeating them.

Memory Fragments — Obtain 20 Memory Fragments. On extra cycles, collectibles you already took become fragments instead of duplicating. This is how the game prevents save-scumming for max upgrades.

What stays between cycles

Abilities, statues, and Stone Warp points stay. Bosses, Acer stones, and sap reset. Heart and mana pieces become memory fragments.

See New Game Plus for the full inventory of what carries over.

Kane or Cain

Players ask whether Kane and Cain are the same character, and whether that character can be rescued. Community discussion uses both spellings. The Stone of Narrative is the authority for in-game naming. Cain’s Duel achievement requires defeating Cain in a duel.

Sorr storyline

Sorr are the wolf warriors of Higasha. Sorron is their leader. Enma is the Golden Spirit Wolf who guards Sorron’s plan in Tenshukaku. The Aphotic Marsh teaser asks what connects the Sorr, the wetland, and the source of corruption — and someone was left behind in the marsh before the Sorr vanished.

Aisare’s Stone is a central plot object. Sorron obsessed over it. Aisare’s Stone Shards go to Iedart for research. The Sorr Medallion achievement requires assembling two fractured Medallions.
