Mutated Abilities

Mutated Abilities (the Steam notes also say Mutant Ability) are Kisha’s body-changing tools. They open the Carox as much as they win arenas. This page documents what we can name: Blink, wall climb, glide with wall-grab, Lyani’s Claws, Silver Chain, and Meditation of Jibanam. It will not rank Dash Level 3 i-frames that were never published.

For spenders, see Engraved Skills. For charms, see Cabitz Builds. For where a tool is required, see All Areas and the Aphotic Marsh.

Blink is the signature reposition. Patch notes mention it constantly: Ortrinde camera issues if you stay airborne with Blink plus a downward attack; Snaga’s Lightning Chain being usable twice on one monster after Blink (fixed); Claw Tree nodes retitled toward Blink Attack Boost. Play Blink as a committed escape or a short attack-boost window, not as a hover loop.

In bosses, Blink is how you survive Ortrinde steel and Enma bites you did not see coming. In exploration, Blink crosses canyon gaps and quarry wind mistakes. If a puzzle still fails, you may need climb or chain instead of more Blink.

Wall climb

Wall climb is a core Metroidvania stick. A patch had to stop players climbing Mirror Chamber mirrors in Elord Castle, which tells you two things: climb is strong, and reflective surfaces were not meant to be ladders. Climb out of ground sludge, out of Kannir glow, and out of Grand Square knockbacks. Combine with glide: from the 2nd Expansion, you can grab a wall when you touch it while gliding. That single sentence is official and it changes vertical routes in Strigine Quarry and castle shafts.

Glide

Glide is the owl-quarry answer. Strigine teasers even joke that wings would help you ride updrafts. You do not have owl wings; you have glide plus the wall-grab patch. Use quarry winds to gain height, then cling. In Black Canyon, glide over mud that would eat a full jump. In Higasha, glide is not a substitute for story doors such as Wolf Gate.

Lyani’s Claws

The 1st Expansion added a new Mutant Ability named Lyani’s Claws. Public notes do not print a damage formula. Treat it as a named claw-form mutation that expands combat options in the quarry–canyon–tundra band where that expansion lived. If a later wall still blocks you, Lyani’s Claws might be the missing verb — or it might be Silver Chain. Check the region. Do not assume Lyani’s Claws is a double jump with a wiki-invented unlock boss.

Silver Chain (1.0 traversal and combat)

Aphotic Marsh is lightless wetland full of black sludge. Someone who endured there grants Kisha remaining power and the Silver Chain so you can cut corruption and reach the deepest marsh. That is traversal and combat in one tool: chain through sludge that would otherwise drink your life force, then keep swinging. It is not an early-lab skip. If you do not have it, you are not in the 1.0 ending geography yet.

Use the chain in marsh fights the way you used Blink in Ortrinde: as the mechanic the arena was built around. Details and lore sit on Aphotic Marsh. Late combat posture sits on How to Beat Late Bosses.

Meditation of Jibanam

Steam tracks acquiring the mutation ability Meditation of Jibanam to overcome fear of water. Lower Moss Cave is the Jibanam forest. If water is deleting your HP bar, this is the named answer, not a random swim stat. We will not invent a breath meter number.

Inherited Skills versus mutations

An achievement wants you to acquire an Inherited Skill. That toast is separate from Cabitz and from Engraved Skills in Steam’s wording. Until we have a fuller official glossary, treat Inherited Skills as another named growth verb — learn it when the game teaches it — and do not merge it into a fake five-slot mutation list.

Claw Trees and Kannium

Some Claw Trees were adjusted: Boost Absorption / Photoenergy language moved toward Retrieve Photoenergy Boost and Blink Attack Boost. Kannium upgrades the Claw. Cat statues in the community conversation are the Kannium / canium loop. None of this is a respec board. A post-ending achievement lets you reset the Claw to recover Kannium. That is the closest official “take it back” button.

Combat combinations that are honest

  • Scout then Blink: first cycle of any unnamed boss, then Blink the committed swing.
  • Glide into climb: quarry and castle verticals after the wall-grab patch.
  • Hits then spenders: mutations create contact; Engraved Skills spend the charge. Irbes clumps prove the point.
  • Chain in sludge: marsh only. Do not wait for Silver Chain to save you in Origin Laboratory.

If a door still says no, open All Areas and match the biome to a tool on this page. If the door is Wolf Gate or a Jayma seal, you are gated by story objects such as King’s Authority, not by a missing air strike. Mutated Abilities are how Kisha inhabits the underworld; they are not a numbered ladder of five with purchase costs this wiki made up.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How many Mutated Abilities are there?

There is no honest public total. Named tools include Blink, climb, glide, Lyani's Claws, Silver Chain, and Meditation of Jibanam. More may exist without a teaser name.

Can I grab walls while gliding?

Yes. The 2nd Expansion added wall grabs on contact during glide based on player feedback. Use it in quarry winds and castle shafts.

Is Silver Chain a Mutated Ability?

Official marsh copy presents it as power granted in Aphotic Marsh to cut black corruption. This wiki files it with mutated traversal/combat tools because that is how you use it, whether or not the pause menu uses the same heading.

Does Blink have invincibility frames?

Players treat Blink as a safety reposition. No official frame count was published. Do not bank on an invented i-frame window against Ortrinde blades.

Where do I unlock Lyani's Claws?

They were added in the 1st Expansion with Strigine Quarry, Black Canyon, and Higasha Tundra. Exact chest coordinates are not in the public notes — explore that band and read in-game prompts.

Why can I not climb the Mirror Chamber?

Climbing those mirrors was a bug and was patched. Use Blink and floor space. Reflections are for the fight, not for height.
