Fatal Claw How to Beat Irbes
Phase two clumps — hit the pile, fill the bar, do not invent HP.
Irbes is the named Fatal Claw boss Steam stamps as Too Slow… (punctuation included). The community mechanical note that matters: phase two copies can spawn clumped from the same point, so you can hit Irbes and the copies together and fill whatever resource Engraved Skills and heals are using. Players disagree whether that clump is a gift or a bug. Play the 1.0 arena in front of you. This wiki will not claim a hotfix silently deleted the pile.

Phase one: learn the body
First attempt is scouting. Watch wind-up, projectiles, and whether Irbes wants you in the air or on the floor. Ground hits can lift Kisha a little and delay a jump — same global complaint as other fights. Let the animation settle before you plan a hop.
Keep attacking when it is safe. Fatal Claw’s spender loop charges from connecting. Standing still to “wait for an opening” starves Lightning Chain and friends. Developer commentary on early bosses already said remote skills work if you refill magic by hitting in the gaps. Irbes is that lesson with extra bodies later.
Blink is reposition, not a panic button you empty on every swipe. Save some for a real tell. This page will not number i-frames.
Phase two: the clump
When copies appear, look at spawn points. If they stack, keep swinging the pile. That is massive mana / skill charge. It can make the fight feel too easy; community posts said exactly that. If your 1.0 build spreads the copies, you get a harder, more honest dance — still hit whatever overlaps, still do not chase a clone across the whole arena while the real contact damage is in your face.
Irbes copies are the reason this wiki tells you to watch spawn clustering on unnamed bosses. A clump is a battery. A spread is a test. Both are still Irbes.
Snaga’s Lightning Chain likes extra targets. Duration was patched (shorter base, more per extra target; later a fix against using it twice on the same monster after Blink). Play live numbers. Reien’s Covenant is wolf-themed; use it if it is what you have. Extermination Protocol exists; do not surf an air current forever — that was patched.
Cabitz, difficulty, aftercare
If the clump is gone and the fight hurts, socket sustain (Half Salvation Stone, rosary-style). If the clump is still there and you are greedy, you can run a more aggressive charm set — still owl-heal after. 2nd Expansion placed owl statues after bosses. Use the statue. Too Slow… is flavour, not a speedrun trophy unless overlay says so later.
Accessibility sliders are valid. Irbes is a good fight to learn spenders on a lower combat setting, then raise it. Deck hitching makes clumps harder to read; see Steam Deck.
Kannium upgrades the Claw. Spend if the string feels small. Heart and mana pieces raise ceilings. No XP bar in the old invented sense.
Region: treat Irbes as early-band named steel, not a marsh finale. Silver Chain is unrelated. Lyani’s Claws may already be in your kit if you took the 1st Expansion path; they are movement, not a skip.
If an achievement popped on a brand-new file before you fought anyone, that was a known auto-unlock bug fixed in v0.9.269. Update, then fight Irbes for real.
Too Slow… is the toast. The lesson is faster: when the game stacks targets, you do not wait politely. You claw the pile and spend the bar.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
What Steam achievement is Irbes?
Too Slow... — defeat Irbes. Official punctuation. Not a posted time trial.
Why do the copies clump?
Community reports say phase-two copies can spawn stacked, which fills mana if you hit all of them. Whether that is intended, play the spawn in your 1.0 build.
Should I wait to attack in phase two?
If they clump, keep hitting the pile so Engraved Skills charge. If they spread, still hit overlap and stop chasing empty afterimages.
Do I need a special Cabitz?
No required charm. Sustain helps if you get chipped. Aggressive sets are fine when the clump is feeding your bar.
Is Irbes a late boss?
Treat Irbes as early-band named pressure. Late names like Enma and Sorron sit on later geography.
