Fatal Claw Survivors
Rescue is real. No fake roster of thirteen names.
Fatal Claw’s store copy is blunt: find the key to the surface alongside other survivors. Rescue is a real system. Beacons, conversations, and travel unlocks exist. This page will not invent a complete list of thirteen named NPCs, will not script fake dialogue that gates a “True Ending,” and will not assign one survivor to each fan-made zone.
What we can say: Steam has Leave No One Behind as an achievement name, Iedart and Max and Rotri appear as named helpers on other toasts, Cain is a duel target, and Kane/Cain rescue is a standing community question. The Stone of Narrative is how rescued voices and records stick to the world’s story — treat it as the narrative archive that grows when you pull people (and memories) out of the dark.
For map verbs, see the Map Hub. For items people ask you to fetch, see Collectibles. For 1.0’s lonely marsh figure, see Aphotic Marsh.
How rescue play actually feels
You explore, you find a person or a beacon, you deal with nearby infected, you interact. Some rescues are quiet. Some sit behind ability walls. Some are story-critical without being a numbered collectible. Carox marks points of interest; it does not always scream “survivor” in a way a wiki can scrape.
After a rescue, expect some mix of: lore, a shop or craft sink, a travel convenience, or a Stone of Narrative entry. Do not assume every survivor is a fast-travel pylon. Stone Warp and Vanrion’s Gate already exist as travel tech. Survivors feed the social map, not a fake six-node subway.
If a survivor is in danger, clear the room first. This wiki will not invent a draining health bar with a precise timeout, because that number was never published. Play as if delay can cost you the rescue — that matches the tone of Leave No One Behind — then believe your own checkpoint if the game is kinder than rumours.
Beacons and fast travel (general)
Beacons are how the underworld telegraphs “something human is here.” Approach, interact, and let the tutorial language win. Fast travel is a family:
- Carox to see where you have been.
- Stone Warp to jump between prepared stones (lever first in Upper Elord Castle).
- Vanrion’s Gate to teleport, then upgrade that gate on a later achievement.
- Survivor-related travel as the game grants it — described in-world, not as a wiki-invented hub list.
If a beacon looks like a survivor and turns out to be a journal or a Stone of Records, that is still progress. The Stone of Narrative will file it.
Kane and Cain
Community threads ask whether Kane (sometimes spelled Cain) can be rescued. Steam, separately, tracks Defeat Cain in a duel. Those may be the same character seen two ways, or a spelling fork, or a duel that is not a rescue. This wiki will not pick a fan ending.
Practical advice:
- If you meet Cain as a duel, fight him as a late-middle 1-on-1. Scout; no fake parry frames.
- If you meet a wounded Kane/Cain as a beacon, attempt the rescue like any other survivor.
- Do not skip the encounter because a guide said there are exactly thirteen people and he is “optional number seven.”
- Wolf Gate copy says Sorron is one whom even Cain feared — Cain is important enough to name in a tundra teaser, which is why the community cares.
Check your Codex and Stone of Narrative after the encounter. The game’s own log beats a wiki rumour.
Named people who are not a survivor census
Printing these names does not mean they are all rescue targets:
- Iedart — Aisare shards and research.
- Max — Archive information (repeatable achievement chain exists).
- Rotri — a request you can assist.
- Jack — a vault and Combinator.
- Enma / Sorron — Sorr antagonists, not townies.
- Jayma / Examu / King Odz — historical.
If your save introduces someone else, they are real. The census is incomplete on purpose.
Stone of Narrative
Think of the Stone of Narrative as the story-side Carox: it keeps what survivors said, what you rescued, and how those threads braid toward surface keys and 1.0’s ending tone. Official 1.0 language already says the final scene can change with events, choices, and clues. Survivors are one of those inputs. Memory fragments are another. Do not reduce that to “rescue 13 or get the bad ending.” Play thoroughly, read the stone, and use the Endings walkthrough page for structure without a fake NPC table.
Shrine of Ancestors is where ancestral voices should feel loud. Laboratory survivors should feel like colleagues of the Commoner project. Tundra survivors should feel like exiles. If a region’s people all sound the same, you missed a beacon, not a DLC.
When you are stuck on a person rather than a platform, mark it on Carox, unlock the next Mutated Ability, and return. Rescue is exploration content. It is not a side minigame this wiki can finish with a numbered list it does not have.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How many survivors are there?
No honest public total. Do not trust a list of thirteen. Track beacons on Carox and entries on the Stone of Narrative.
Can I rescue Kane or Cain?
That is a known community question. Steam definitely tracks defeating Cain in a duel. Attempt any beacon you find and believe your Codex over rumours.
Do survivors unlock fast travel?
Some rescue content ties into travel convenience, but Stone Warp and Vanrion's Gate are the named travel tools. Do not expect a fake pylon per zone.
What is the Stone of Narrative?
The story archive that grows with rescued people, records, and choices. 1.0's ending can shift with what you experienced. It is not a thirteen-box checklist.
Are Iedart and Max survivors?
They are named NPCs with Steam tasks. Whether the game also files them as rescue targets is for your Codex, not for an invented roster.
Can I miss a survivor forever?
Play as if beacons matter. This wiki will not invent a permadeath timer. If you are unsure, return with new abilities before you enter 1.0's marsh.
