Fatal Claw Abilities and Builds

Mutated tools, engraved spenders, and named Cabitz only.

Abilities Hub

Fatal Claw’s power fantasy is three stacked systems, not a talent tree with invented cooldowns. Mutated Abilities change how Kisha moves and strikes. Engraved Skills are spenders you charge by hitting. Cabitz are named charms you socket for playstyle. Version 1.0 also hands you the Silver Chain in Aphotic Marsh. This Abilities Hub is the index. Child pages go deep: Mutated Abilities, Engraved Skills, and Cabitz Builds.

Steam’s own language matches this split. You equip Cabitz. You upgrade the Claw with Kannium. You acquire Inherited Skills as a separate toast. You pick up Lyani’s Claws as a new Mutant Ability in the 1st Expansion. You absorb magical Engraved Skills from the underground. When a wiki page pretends there are “five Mutated Abilities with level-3 i-frames,” that page is fan fiction. We only list names that patches, teasers, or achievements actually used.

Mutated Abilities in one paragraph

Confirmed movement and combat tools include Blink, wall climb, glide (and grabbing a wall while gliding), Lyani’s Claws, and the 1.0 Silver Chain. Steam also tracks Meditation of Jibanam as a mutation that helps with water. Claw Trees were retuned so older photoenergy nodes lean into Blink Attack Boost. You will unlock more mutations through exploration; if a wall still denies you, the Carox usually wants a tool you have not found, not a fake air-strike purchase.

Read the full movement essay on Mutated Abilities. Pair it with All Areas when you are staring at a ledge in Strigine Quarry or a sludge pit in the Aphotic Marsh.

Engraved Skills in one paragraph

Engraved Skills charge when you connect. That is why Irbes copies are a mana gift and why empty bars lose boss fights. Named skills we can print without shame: Snaga’s Lightning Chain (duration was patched from a longer base plus one second per target to a one-second base plus 1.5 seconds per extra target; a later patch stopped using it twice on the same monster after Blink), Reien’s Covenant (wolf-related, added in the 1st Expansion), and Extermination Protocol (exists; do not expect air-current surfing after the fix). The Imprint School in Black Canyon is the lore reason these skills exist.

The catalogue page is Engraved Skills. It will not invent Flame Rune DPS.

Cabitz in one paragraph

Cabitz are charm slots inspired, in the developers’ own commentary, by hanging decorations — a cat-flavoured loadout, not a five-tier gem board. Confirmed names:

  • Sage’s Moonstone
  • Spirit Bead Rosary
  • Half Salvation Stone (renamed from Sacred Flame of Life)
  • Traditional Royal Whetstone
  • Prepared Strike
  • Dotiman’s Token
  • Heart of the Black Curse
  • Boundless Focus

Playstyle ideas — aggressive Blink, Half Salvation sustain, curse/black — live on Cabitz Builds. Boundless Focus had a patched interaction where hitting a wall with an aerial attack restored mana; do not build around that cheat.

How the three systems talk to bosses

Ortrinde wants Blink discipline. Irbes wants you to keep hitting a clump so skills charge. Enma wants a cool head around illusions and is a natural home for Reien’s Covenant if you have it. Kannir and marsh want sustain Cabitz because the floor is part of the damage. None of that requires a spreadsheet. See How to Beat Early Bosses and How to Beat Late Bosses.

Kannium, costumes, Iedart — adjacent growth

Kannium upgrades the Claw (cat statues / canium talk in the community is this loop). Iedart takes Aisare’s Stone Shards and later a full set for a research achievement. Costumes Blue Scale Robe and Crimson Flare Dance are obtainable cosmetics, not hidden damage nodes. Memory fragments and Codex entries track story, not DPS. Dump the item types on Collectibles.

This hub exists so you stop searching for a respec vendor that was never announced and start asking which named tool you are missing. If the answer is Silver Chain, you are in 1.0 marsh country. If the answer is Lyani’s Claws, you are in expansion geography. If the answer is a Cabitz you have not found, explore — the list above is named, not located with fake coordinates.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is there a respec for Mutated Abilities?

No public respec was announced for mutations. Steam does track a post-ending Claw reset that recovers Kannium you spent. That is not a full build wipe.

How many Cabitz can I equip?

Official notes never published a slot cap in the patch teasers. Equip what the menu allows. This wiki will not invent a maximum of five.

Do Engraved Skills have fixed cooldowns?

They charge from hitting, and Snaga's Lightning Chain has a published duration formula. We do not print invented global cooldown tables.

Where do I get Silver Chain?

1.0 Aphotic Marsh. A figure who waited in the sludge grants remaining power and the chain so you can cut black corruption. Details on the [Aphotic Marsh](/map/aphotic-marsh/) page.

What is Boundless Focus for?

It is a named Cabitz. A patch removed mana restore from aerial wall hits while it was equipped. Use it as a focus charm, not as a wall-punch battery.
